language barrier

Dear Blog,

The other day I saw one of the doctors in ward 1 speak Hindi and communicated with a patient using that language. That was awesome~

ap ka nam kia hey?
what's your name?

mey ra nam (your name) hey
my name is (your name) - not sure about this one

aaj ap kaise hein?
sihat tak hari ini?

main aachi hoo! tum kaisi ho?
i'm good! how about you?

kuch nahi, meh hindu malum nahi
oh, takpe2 saya tak berbahasa hindi

ka haa dard hei?
sakit dekat mane?

shukriya
terima kasih

bye2

Hindi not enough for ya? Let's have Chinese take-outs!

chou san! kui pintoi?
gmrning! g manee??

Sadly, that's all I know. Well, not really know...my friend taught me just now, just for the hell of it. I don't even know if it's correct! Me and Anip seriously xde keje tadi haha. Dude, you owe me more Hindi lessons! hehe (kononnya wanna be like Dr. Rafidah lah ni ek haha).

So, what's the significance for me to learn these languages? I'll tell you, there are alotta patients in the ward that don't know how to speak Malay and/or English. It's either we learn their language a bit, or we might need a translator, which is pretty tedious and difficult.
