Dear Blog,
Brrrrr...it's freeeeeezing here, down in UKm...(LOL).
I forgot to bring my winter wear. Thank God for Fatin's IKEA vanilla candle, which is our only source of heat, we are still able to feel our peripheries. It's "snowing" outside, barely able to see the trees outside her window. It's easily...what...10 degrees out there? LOL.
I woke up this morning in my room, shivering from the strands of my hair to the very edge of my toenails. Despite my quilt that barely preserved heat for my body, my fan speed was only 3. It shouldn't have been freezing, it shouldn't.
After a few rounds of running up and down the stairs this morning (cafe doors weren't unlocked yet, so gym door wasn't unlocked either. the stairs were the only place feasible for me to break a sweat), I felt breathless too fast. It could've been because of the cold weather, or my lack of exercise for the past few weeks. But the fact of the matter is...I now have very low stamina.
Shower felt like hell-freezing. As soon as a dew of water splashed unto my skin, all my bones shook to the very core. That was not water, that was frozen liquid. For awhile there, I couldn't differentiate between hot and cold.
Winter. I can see the icicles hanging down from tree branches and the window sill of each dorm. Bird chirping? None at all, for they might be taking shelter elsewhere.
Rain. Pouring down from the dark, grey sky. It hasn't stopped since yesterday morning. No, it stopped. Just a few hours, minutes even. How was I to know? I've been in the room ever since.
Sun. I forgot how beautiful a bright blue sky can look like. I miss the ray and heat that you've bestowed upon us all these years. Where have you gone? Please, come back.
these photos aren't mine, btw. googled 'em.
Ok. Done with my merepekness. It's so cold laaa. I don't have the mood to study anymore. 2 weeks is just too much for me to handle. I can't look at books and notes for 2 friggin weeks straight. It's torture! I hate it. Come on...exam already!! (macamlah dah abis baca semua) =(((

wataday!
Dear Blog,
Had a 12 hour (++) break from education today.
Yup, did not study the whole day.
Woke up early for a Saturday just to go back home. Arrived home to find Jenna sick, Leanna on the bed just recovered from some fever. Ritz was already gone, at toks' crib after sending Mommy to work.
Leanna and I played hours and hours of Starcraft.
Went to Subang and had breakfast at Fawwaz (1 and a half roti susu and teh tarik).
Went back to Toks', spent time with family then headed back to KJ and continued more rounds of Starcraft : Broodwar. We rocked! Initally played 3on2...then 3on3 and we WON! hehehe. Didn't think I could do it coz I felt rusty...but we had great teamwork, good job guys! Then, went to CC with Leanna, Chico and Hedz for a few rounds of Left 4 Dead 2. (had so much fun! can't wait to play with you guys some more after my finals heheh)
I think I played too much games today coz during our second map, I felt nauseated. I was dizzy, had a headache and wanted to vomit. It was crazy. Also, the only meal I had was that roti susu and teh tarik, despite the less sugar Redbull I had at the CC.
OMG. How unproductive!
So, at Toks...I felt like vomiting. Leanna said I looked sick, so I ate some of the porridge Mommy made for Jenna. I had to force myself to eat it coz it just didn't wanna swallow.
Never had I ever imagined that I would ever want to vomit due to excessive gaming...like, seriously. LOL.
I felt better after the porridge and Spicy Chicken McDeluxe. Thank you family. Love you all! I'm back at UKM now, and I already miss you! =((

stranded on an island
Dear Blog,
It is now the 5th day of our study week and man...I feel like I'm going nuts!
I disciplined myself to go to the gym every 2 days at the very least, just to maintain my mental and physical health. Otherwise, all we (Assila, Fatin & I) do is study, eat, study, eat...owh, and sleep. Can't forget that, LOL.
I feel like a zombie. I feel as though my skin is getting paler and paler due to the lack of sunlight exposure (over-exaggerating) Owh, maybe a vampire instead of a zombie.
This is crazy. This is a very unhealthy way to study, but, it's the ONLY way I can and know how to.
Thank God Ainul (another housemate of ours) left her door unlocked since she's the only one with the television. Watching the news yesterday and during lunch earlier today, I've realized that I don't really know what's going on out there. Funny. It's like, being trapped in a box with no window - unable to see the world from the inside out.
I rarely call my family when I'm here coz I know I'll see them during the weekends. But, boy...I've been so stressed out..I keep calling my twin sister every single day...which is VERY unusual. I mean, I just met her and the family last weekend, but it feels like ages! I miss them so much! =(
I miss home =(

never wanting to wake up
Dear Blog,
I had the best dream ever, one that I did not want to get awaken from.
Sadly, my alarm clock woke me up. Even though I put it on snooze every 5 minutes for about 2 hours, I was still able to continue the dream from where it was interrupted.
I know who to "blame" for this vivid dream, since we were talking about nak kahwin, nak kahwin last night...during our Melaka day & night trip.
That's right, I dreamed that I was about to marry somebody.
I was meeting his parents, and we were planning the ceremony together. I remember talking to his parents, and they accepted me.
It felt nice. It was exciting. And for once in my life, I felt cherished by a man who loved me, a man who wanted to marry me as much as I wanted to marry him.
I was loved.
."give me a ring sometime...*chuckles*, i meant on the phone. l e n a

My Safe Haven
Dear Blog,
I took this from a friend's Facebook status.
At 3 yrs old : "Ma, I love you"
At 10 yrs old: "Mom whatever!"
At 16 yrs old: "OMG! My Mom is so annoying!"
At 18 yrs old: "I wanna leave this house."
At 25 yrs old: "Mom, you were right."
At 30 yrs old: "I want to go back to my Mom's house."
At 50 yrs old: "I dont wanna lose my Mom."
At 70 yrs old: "I would give up anything for my Mom to be here."
After watching the recent episode of How I Met Your Mother last night with Leanna, I realized that...time actually jets real fast. While you're busy at school, college or work...your parents are ageing day by day. Without knowing it...they might already be gone...while you're still busy being a student or with your career. Did they once cross your mind?
Have you ever wondered what their last words to you would be if they suddenly passed away right now?
Marshall's father's last words to him were "rent Crocodile Dundee 3" (or so he wants to believe).
.it is now almost 12pm, do you know where your parents are?. l e n a.
P/S: I love my Dad too. Even if he doesn't know it sometimes, even though I don't show it most of the time.

g-g-g-g-got it??
Dear Blog,
Yay! It finally happened! A doctor finally asked me that much anticipated question.
The question that determines whether you've "got it" or you don't. Got what you ask? Only my sisters know what I'm talking about.
Dr. R : Eh, Farah... you orang mana eh? (owhh, he knows my name too hehe)
Lena : *terkejut jap* uhh...owhh orang Selangor.
Dr. R : owh, ok
So, Jenna's been getting alotta that at the hospital she's working at. Leanna's always getting that wherever she goes. It's about time for me to step up my game hehehe. Anyway, I'm done being self-engulfed for now. Time to get some shut eye. I didn't get to sleep much - only slept for 2 hours in fact, had to finish both my case write-ups last night. Farah, you crazy foool!

unlucky for some
Dear Blog,
This is soooooo like me. I've never cut my ward rounds thus far. So, last night I was really not feeling well and up to this whole medic life. I went back home. Sometimes, a getaway is the best thing for me.
So, I went away from this hell-hole.
I thought I was gonna wake up the usual 5.45am and leave home for UKM around 6.15am the latest so I'll be able to make it in time for the morning rounds (coz leaving around 6.30am, federal's already slow-moving). But, because both Leanna and I stayed up late last night for a few rounds of Rock Band 2 and helping me finish my Reflective Writing for SSM, we slept at around 2am++.
I accidentally woke-up at 6.30am this morning!!!
After getting ready and all, federal would be friggin' bumper-to-bumper. So, what the hell. I told my friend that I wasn't going for the rounds today. Big deal. If you ask any Medical Student, everyone's bound to miss the rounds at least once for every posting.
Then I had a reply from that friend, saying NO ONE attended the rounds this morning for our team. And since she was the only one present, she didn't join it too. I was like, Ok. What to do.
All in all, I kinda felt great today. The great escape, that was all I needed to boost my slacking behavior lately.
Hours later, after our Spine PE lecture my group leader came up to me and told me this horrific news that really, really, REALLY twisted my day around.
"Mr. J was looking for us this morning during the rounds."
"Whatttt?" I replied.
"He approached one of our batch-mates and asked whether he's seen any of our group members."
*Owhhh snap!*
That's what happens when you're unlucky. The day that I decided to skip the rounds was the day that EVERYONE in my group wanted to skip the rounds. It couldn't have been more obvious that the WHOLE group was missing. And the fact that OTHER teams were present for their rounds really shows that we had no excuse to be absent. Aiyoooo.
I seriously don't know how to face Mr. J during tomorrow's rounds. I'm sure he'll ask where we all went. I don't know what to say. We've got a seminar lecture tomorrow at 10.30am, that means we won't be able to make it for the team's OT. Mr. J's been so nice, he even made time to give us teaching yesterday evening about Osteoarthritis. How can my group and I treat him so and be so ungrateful? I'm so sorry Mr. J. I wish I could turn back time and wake-up earlier this morning.
Can't believe this. The one time I cut rounds for Ortho, it ends up being a disaster. How did Ku-Ku pull it off? Being M.I.A. almost everyday of the week? So unfair =(

ipoh mali, kembali skali lagi
Dear Blog,
It has been a tiring month - December. Now, let's all reach out and embrace January 2011 with open arms and open minds. Happy New Year everyone!
So, last week we sent Jenna to Ipoh since she's posted there for her HO-ship. She's working at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun and her first posting's Surgery! It was a great road trip, since I've never been to that part of Malaysia. On our way, we dropped by the Tapah R&R, since we've heard that the kuih Pau there is delish. Upon arrival, we drove around and "explored" Ipoh. Not much to explore since the place isn't that big, but it was a breath of fresh air - going away from Subang.
We were welcomed by Jenna's senior by 6 months, Dr. Dama and Jenna settled down at the doc's place while her hostel registration was being processed.
We ate Pizza Hut at Jusco. Question : Anywhere else to hang other than Jusco? It's so jam-packed during the weekends, somewhat difficult to find a parking spot since the parking area provided proved to be insufficient. I get dizzy when I'm around large crowds, so that totally ruined my day. P/S: Note to self, wear something that can blend in with the crowd. Locals looked at us funny =S
Tapau Pau at Tapah =D
Welcome to Ipoh-wood!
Nothing like Tabasco! Love you~
Watched the MAS - INDO match at Salam's Corner. Congrats Malaysia! And thank you for the holiday =D
Went to Ipoh again on New Years, this time Ritz and Mommy followed but Leanna stayed home since she's down with the flu and fever. Jenna had 12pm-5pm and 11pm onwards off...so, we hung out at...where else...Jusco. Both Jenna and D'dique celebrated their 1-year anniversary and gave each other gifts. D'dique got a Man-U Nike ball (boooo!)..Jenna got a very nice Elle Studio watch.
We ate a very late dinner at this place, kinda Uptown-ish. It's like a whole row of shop house parking lots taken over by gerai makans. It was a whole stretch of stalls, so deciding where to sit was very hard. Since we were all unable to choose, we gave D'dique that privilege, LOL. Mommy and me ate Char Kuey Teow (I asked for extra spicy! yumm!) Jenna just ate a few sticks of Satay, Ritz ate Nasi goreng thai something and D'dique ate nasi goreng sambal belacan something something.
Was happy to see big sis again. Missed her so much. But, can't be going there every weekend, habis duit JPA LOL.
Owh, New Years was subtle this year and I prefer it that way. All 4 of us - Mommy, Ritz, Leanna and I stayed in bought microwavable popcorn and orange juice and watched DVD together. From our apartment, some fireworks can be appreciated but not to the extent of getting goosebumps at every "KA-BOOM!". But, it was fun =) Always nice to be around family.
Popcorn in white bowl, sweet + colorful popcorn. Popcorn in blue bowl, melted-butter popcorn!! F&N orange juice and Dinner for Schmucks =)
New Years resolution (so far):
- Spend more time with family
- Stay fit
- Get a boyfriend (c'mon!)
- Finish Jenna & D'dique's song
- Do well in exam
This is all I can think of right now, LOL. I'll prolly add something later on. Anyway, toodles!
.
.may this year be better than the last, remember the past but still moving forward. l e n a.
