unlucky for some

Dear Blog,

This is soooooo like me. I've never cut my ward rounds thus far. So, last night I was really not feeling well and up to this whole medic life. I went back home. Sometimes, a getaway is the best thing for me.

So, I went away from this hell-hole.

I thought I was gonna wake up the usual 5.45am and leave home for UKM around 6.15am the latest so I'll be able to make it in time for the morning rounds (coz leaving around 6.30am, federal's already slow-moving). But, because both Leanna and I stayed up late last night for a few rounds of Rock Band 2 and helping me finish my Reflective Writing for SSM, we slept at around 2am++.

I accidentally woke-up at 6.30am this morning!!!

After getting ready and all, federal would be friggin' bumper-to-bumper. So, what the hell. I told my friend that I wasn't going for the rounds today. Big deal. If you ask any Medical Student, everyone's bound to miss the rounds at least once for every posting.

Then I had a reply from that friend, saying NO ONE attended the rounds this morning for our team. And since she was the only one present, she didn't join it too. I was like, Ok. What to do.

All in all, I kinda felt great today. The great escape, that was all I needed to boost my slacking behavior lately.

Hours later, after our Spine PE lecture my group leader came up to me and told me this horrific news that really, really, REALLY twisted my day around.

"Mr. J was looking for us this morning during the rounds."

"Whatttt?" I replied.

"He approached one of our batch-mates and asked whether he's seen any of our group members."

*Owhhh snap!*

That's what happens when you're unlucky. The day that I decided to skip the rounds was the day that EVERYONE in my group wanted to skip the rounds. It couldn't have been more obvious that the WHOLE group was missing. And the fact that OTHER teams were present for their rounds really shows that we had no excuse to be absent. Aiyoooo.

I seriously don't know how to face Mr. J during tomorrow's rounds. I'm sure he'll ask where we all went. I don't know what to say. We've got a seminar lecture tomorrow at 10.30am, that means we won't be able to make it for the team's OT. Mr. J's been so nice, he even made time to give us teaching yesterday evening about Osteoarthritis. How can my group and I treat him so and be so ungrateful? I'm so sorry Mr. J. I wish I could turn back time and wake-up earlier this morning.

Can't believe this. The one time I cut rounds for Ortho, it ends up being a disaster. How did Ku-Ku pull it off? Being M.I.A. almost everyday of the week? So unfair =(
