Dear Blog,
When is it ok to be gedik?
when you're / your :
- one of the most popular girls around
- rich
- flirting
- crush is around
- posing for the camera
- happy
- cracking jokes
- bored
- with your BBFs
- over-reacting
- craving for attention
- nemesis is nearby
OR
just because...you're a girl...it's ok to become that way?
What is gedik anyway?
Can guys be gedik too? Is there another terminology for that?
I don't really know what the word means actually. It pretty much differs for each and every individual.
So it's actual meaning is really unknown to me. But what I do know is that gedik is supposed to mean something negative, especially if it's appointed towards someone other than your 'clique'. A personality or attitude that one 'brands' a certain someone when that person behaves in a way that is unacceptable in the eye of society.
In Malay, a similar and more widely used term would be "mengada".
Non-verbally...one would express someone as gedik by either exchanging glances within their group of friends or by a raised eyebrow...sometimes even, shaking of the head would mean that whatever it is that that person's doing is totally NOT OK.
Why am I fussing over this silly word anyway?
Because nowadays, it's ok to call your friends gedik. They don't mean it in a bad way, really. It's just a way they express themselves when you're acting in a way that some people may findmengada, but funny or cute at the same time.
So, when some calls you gedik, don't take it too personally (only applicable to girls). Keep an open mind that there are positive and negative prospects in everything =)
(this picture is totally unrelated *chuckles*).l e n a, being...gedik?. Did I use that correctly? LOL.
