I feel like a little girl again, listening to the tunes of a certain Celtic folk rock or Gaelic rock band..
Like someone once said, "the more you listen to them, the more you fall in love with them". That's right. Their songs are just beautiful, as beautiful as the band members...er, not including the brother of course. Can you really call a man 'beautiful'? LOL.
Consisting of four siblings:
Andrea Corr - Lead Vocals, tin whistle
Sharon Corr - Violin, backup Vocalist
Caroline Corr - Drums, Bodhran (an irish instrument somewhat like our kompang, but is often struck with a stick called "tipper", "bone" or "cipin"), Piano, backup Vocalist
Jim Corr - Guitar, Keyboard, backup Vocalist (can play the accordion too!)
L to R: THE CORRS
Caroline (the cute and shy one)
Jim (the backbone and funny one)
Andrea (the goofy and petite one)
Sharon (the organized and classy one)
I almost forgot how wonderful their music can be, not to mention melodic and very, very harmonious. With the unique ensemble of instruments and vocal harmonizing there is no way one would call their music "boring".
I started downloading their songs again, burned 'em on a CD for my car and also transferred 'em to my phone. So far, I have not not listened to their music everyday (except when I exercise, I need hardcore music to maintain my stamina)
One of the 2 reasons why I started playing guitar and wanted to be in a band:
- I watched my awesome cousin - Adel rock on his guitar with his band and seemed too cool to be true
- The Corrs were just an inspiration. I've always wanted to form a band with my siblings and dreamed of taking it to the next level, where people would enjoy the music that we make.
Alas, our family is more career-oriented than "you're-free-to-do-as-you-wish-oriented".
The Corrs were actually Jim's idea. He had the idea of making a band with the sisters since they were very young, but waited it out until they finished school. They grew up in a musical environment, their parents - Gerry and Jean Corr were both musicians. The siblings started playing the piano since they were little, but were attracted to different types of instruments as they grew older. Hence, the unique set of talented musicians were born.
I've never had the chance to go to their concert or watch them perform live, which is a disappointment. My big brother, Anwar, had the privilege to watch them perform Live in Malaysia when they came for the '98 Commonwealth games held here that year. He even said Andrea Corr winked at him when the band was passing by backstage. LOL. Should I believe him? Why would Andrea Corr...THE Andrea Corr wink at you Anwar? hahahahaha
Anyways, dear future husband of mine...I want you to surprise me by hiring the Corrs to play on our wedding night...otherwise, it's "I Don't" for you. hehe.
.you are FORGIVEN for being hiatus, but you will never be FORGOTTEN. fell in love with you guys all over again. l e n a.
