Malaysians = Busybodies!

Dear Blog,

Have you ever driven around, I dunno maybe KL or Subang Jaya?
Do you hate it when people DON'T use their indicator lights to 'indicate' where they're going?
Have you ever been stuck in a traffic jam and regret using that road in the first place?
Do you hate it when people drive so slow on the road that you just feel like ramming into the car in front of you?

If your answer is YES to all of the above questions, then you're a person with a TYPE A Personality.

What is the Type A personality theory?

According to the world's most reliable Free Encyclopedia, Type A individuals can be described as impatient, excessively time-conscious, insecure about their status, highly competitive, hostile and aggressive, and incapable of relaxation. They are often high achieving workaholics who multi-task, drive themselves with deadlines, and are unhappy about the smallest of delays. Because of these characteristics, Type A individuals are often described as "stress junkies."

Anyhoo, that isn't really what I'm blogging about. Today, I'd like to talk about the world's most unbelievably, busybody creatures alive - Malaysians (not all, just most).

Today, right after my practical over at UKMMC, our bus ride from the hospital to our faculty in KL was rather dull. No excitement. Of course, that's what all Malaysians would think. For me, it was just a normal bus ride - with ABS and jerking and bouncing and stuff. So, whatever right?

However, the bus ride back to my campus at K1 proved to be very... how to put it lightly...errr... comical.

As usual, at 5.30pm++ there will always be a traffic jam over at the junction between the Pahang Round-a-bout and the flyover, headed towards the Titiwangsa Monorail station. So, this was nothing unusual of course. On the other hand, something else caught my attention. A lot of motorcyclists along the roadside, an army jeep and an ambulance weren't really what you would call 'typical' in a traffic jam.

Since I was sitting at the front row seat on the left side of the bus, I could full well make out whatever the fuss was all about. So, I forced myself a glimpse of the commotion on the right side of the junction, the divider between the cars coming and going. As to be expected, both sides of the traffic was pretty darn slow. Now, in my head I was already thinking "What the heck are you guys stopping and staring at? Can we just get a move on?" But I didn't wanna jump to conclusions, so I started to think positive and give all these busybodies the benefit of the doubt. I mean, who knows, maybe that accident blocked the whole road and obstructed it, hence congested the traffic. Who knows, right?

Well, I was right. Not about them not being busybodies but I was right about not wanting to give the benefit of the doubt in the first place.
Here's what I saw :
  • Motorcyclists parking at the roadside
  • People from the oncoming traffic stopping their cars, and the drivers coming out of their vehicles and actually taking a picture of the incident with his/her cameraphone. (I'd have to admit, it's pretty handy especially at times like these)
  • People not giving way to the ambulance
  • My bus driver also stopping in the middle of the road just to sneek a peek
  • My colleagues, running to the right side of our bus to take a snapshot from their all too canggih phones

This photo was taken by my SonyE W700i, 2MP. I know, not so canggih wan. But for it to be there when I needed it, puts it way up higher than any of the best selling phones in stores! And for that, I'll cherish it.

See the army truck all terbalik already? From the opposite side, you can see that there's another car underneath it. I think it was a Proton Waja, not sure. The back window was pretty much shattered and it's roof was kemek from the jeep's impact. In my opinion, the jeep was speeding and maybe didn't notice the car in front halted due to the traffic jam up ahead. Hence, BOOM! The roof is now the inferior border, whereas the tires are facing superiorly (towards the sky!). Talk about anatomical position.

Need I say more?

In conclusion, Malaysians aren't really that bad. They're just so damn busybody. I mean, I understand for not having any sort of entertainment or excitement in our lives (shame on you, blame yourselves for not choosing the right career path, lol) but please laaaaaaaa! DON'T obstruct the traffic maa. What? Your imagining yourselves in some sort of an action movie or something? Don't be silly, please. The highway, freeway or anything that has the word "way" in it is a very, very dangerous place to be stopping for a glimpse of an accident and what not. I mean, kalau nak tolong pun takpe jugak. Ni, nak sibuk je? Lebih baik tak yah! (See? I'm so mad sampai I'm starting to speak Malay plak)

This blog is pretty cool though, eh? Haha. And since, I am a Malaysian that busybodiness is in my blood. Therefore, I am obliged to follow tradition and take a snapshot of that incident. How was I to report it if I didn't? hehe. Alritey, gots ta go!

l e n a out~
