razor blade!

Dear Blog, (my review. you must know how awesome this movie is!)

Yesterday, I went to watch Pisau Cukur with Mommy, Jenna and Ritz.

I couldn't wait! I was so excited! Why, you ask?

Coz the other day, Jenna and I watched Pisau Cukur : Di Sebalik Tabir on Astro Ria or something, and I found that I was firstly attracted to the fact that they had used green+blue screens, white cloud+blue sky backdrops and computer graphics instead of going on a real life cruise. I thought that that was very interesting and daring for them to pull-off. The cruise was definitely CG, but it wasn't half bad! Even though, initially in the movie I noticed that the seawater...wasn't moving, lol. I think that it was cool for the crew to film scenes at places that made it look as though they were on a cruise. Kudos to that!

Secondly...duh~ Maya Karin kott. She's like...my big sister, lol. (btw, she said hello to my cousin Adel 2 nights ago at Cuci the Musical. Unfair!! hehe)

The cast were an interesting match of people, with leading roles from Maya Karin, Fazura, Aaron Aziz, Eizlan Yusof and newcomer Redza Minhat (i love him! sooo cute! hehehe), to the rest of the members, Umie Aida, Sharifah Sofia, AND the special casts consisting of Afdlin Shauki, Norman KRU, Nabil, Rafidah (3R, script writer) & Kartini (3R), Yasmin Yusuff (she looks old already, lol), Elaine Pedley (the funny and witty dance instructor, who is really a famous dancer in real life) and more. Sorry if I dunno the rest.

Initially, I thought Pisau Cukur meant literally something about shaving. Then, I was told that it actually means "Gold Digger"...(heh...it doesn't even sound alike pun?).

So, basically, that's what the movie's all about...Gold Diggers. I can't really tell you what happened coz I'm afraid I might give away all the juicy details. But, let's just say this movie is packed with Romance, Comedy and...well, mystery-solving. 2 girls going on a cruise (Putri Duyung) to look for adventure. One, looking for a rich man to marry, the other, trying to solve a sudden murder case of a Dato' on board.

We should also give a hand to the script writers for making hilarious scripts that'll definitely be used by today's generation...and I quote "Ohhh, my Dior+Gucci+Prada+Coach+Louis Vuitton" and the famous "Panassss~".

The story line is also unique (had an unexpected twist in the mystery-solving), and the scenes were good in a way that it was not dragged on for a long period of time, preventing audiences from getting bored. I was never bored throughout the whole movie..coz it was that good. I was smiling all the way til the very end. Even though the camera angles lack variety, it was somewhat compensated by the great performances by the cast.

Kudos to both M.K. and Faz for their awesome performances and acting skills. They had a tough role to play, to act gedik but adorable at the same time...which is NOT easy to do. Coz most narrow-minded people would surely brand them as gedik. But, not this time. I think everyone would really like their dumb-blonde (as if they were blonde), all giggly, no care of the world, gold-digging roles. Instead of going, "eeee...gatal" people were actually rooting for them to successfully...er...dig gold? Also, Faz was really, really funny in this movie and she accomplished her nosey yet adventurous character while M.K. was the adorable, yet persevered "who wants to marry a millionaire" reject...lol. In the end, they were happy...and the audiences were happy =)
(watch to find out why!)

All in all, a very great movie! Good job Bernard Chauly (Director). I give it an 8/10 for a local movie. I wouldn't wanna compare it to Hollywood blockbusters, that would be so unfair, for the Malaysian Film Industry is definitely up and rising. Even though the CG wasn't top-notch, but hey, bila lagi nak try? Right? Good Job Malaysia! Malaysia BOLEH!! lol...I'm feeling so very patriotic at the moment =p

Whomever thinks that this movie isn't worth watching just becoz it's a "Malay" movie is at a loss. This movie is considered to be one of the best films locally made in Malaysian history. Support the local scenes! I am known to be the type of person that is choosy and hardly easily pleased, especially by silly local movies such as ones done by Senario (I think their jokes are as bad as a rotten egg + decayed flesh with maggots on the side and a glass full of pus). So, trust me when I say this movie is great =)

.i'm so proud! =) l e n a.

Cicak Man wasn't bad, but it wasn't really my kind of movie. :P

Ada jugak lain, but seriously tak banyak good ones. Just border-line OK!
