He's Just Not That Into You

Dear Blog,

I just watched this movie with my good friend Anip last night, and let me tell you this movie is soooo sweet! I love it, and I'm pretty sure any other girl in this world would love it too. It can be considered a chick flick, but it has it's masculine substances too (watch, if you wanna know what).

At first, I didn't think I would wanna watch a movie that involves too many people, afraid if it might get a bit confusing. Plus, the title wasn't too catchy for my taste. However, my sis Jenna recommended me to watch it saying it is the sweetest movie yet. So, what the heck? Let's watch!

It's basically about what most people go through before, during and after relationships. There are no main characters in this film, just a great ensemble of tales here and there. It's great mostly coz people can relate to most of the situations. To name a few:

THE WOMEN

  • Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin) is the typical "wait by the phone", "waiting for Mr. Dream Guy", "why hasn't he called yet?" kinda gal
  • Anna (Johansson) is the home-wrecker that ends up not wanting a serious relationship anyhow
  • Beth (Aniston) is the daddy's girl that is in a serious but very sweet relationship with her boyfriend and and wants to take it to the next level - marriage. The prob is the bf doesn't wanna get married
  • Janine (Jennifer Connelly) is the "Monica Gellar" that controls the husband, the family, the house and is the perfect perfectionist
  • Mary (Barrymore) is the "don't have time, too busy but still wants something with a guy" geek that hooks up with losers via today's technology. Eg: Myspace
THE MEN
  • Ben (Bradley Cooper) is the typical married guy that's being controlled by his wife Janine and gets fed up sooner or later. Has a fling with Anna behind the wife's back and is a liar. He was, in a way, forced into the marriage and might've regretted it but, there's no turning back now.
  • Alex (Justin Long) is the player that's not into serious relationships but ends up falling for the girl he advices about men in general
  • Neil (Affleck) is the most sweetest guy ever. He loves his girlfriend Beth, they live together but doesn't believe in tying the knot.
  • Conor (Kevin Connolly) has eyes only for his friend/crush Anna and literally doesn't care about any other woman. In the end, it's the "other" woman that's really for him
All these characters are actually inter-related in some way - talk about a small world. You just have to watch the movie to understand the cycle. In between scenes, they have actors act as though they're being interviewed about their experiences and previous relationships and those clips are really, really hilarious! Hehe

All in all, a 4/5! Kudos to Director Ken Kwapis for creating such an awesome LOVE POLYGON (not triangle, hehe). This movie is unique in it's own way. A must watch!

Btw, I'm the Gigi in this whole ordeal. The only thing that's different is I am not the "exception" and I have no Alex =(

.a "no one's into me" l e n a.
