post-mini

Dear Blog,

So, that's the end of my Family Medicine posting.

My mini c-ex was a tricky one. I had to do physical examination on a 16 year old, chinese boy who complained of dry lips for the past 1-2 years.

Differential Diagnosis? All I could think of was allergies or irritation to some product he's using, and a possible atopy link. As usual, I have the nerves of a small twig, which breaks under pressure. I accidentally put the sphygmomanometer cuff on backwards around my patient's arm. That was one of the silly mistakes I did. If I wrote down all my clumsy errors, you'd be wondering how I became a medical student in the first place. LOL.

Anyway, so I explained to my Professor that I'd like to proceed with a general inspection and to continue with examining his lips and oral mucosa. Thank God I didn't do THAT bad here.

And well, my 2 partners and I passed! It was quite a difficult case since we weren't really exposed to Dermatology cases coz we haven't gone through our Internal Medicine posting yet (not an excuse says Prof). For the past few weeks, I think we made a really good team - Kak Farhana, Izzanis and I.

Ok. So far, this was one of THE MOST stressful postings I've ever been through. The CPG's are never-ending. Like, wth! Who in the world said it was relaxing? That dude's prolly prepared to become a doctor already or he's just got no feelings, that one.

Coz seriously, this was the only posting that I've actually got to run clinics as though I were a real doctor/general practitioner.

The registrars and specialists are really nice, but really serious when it comes to our mini clinical examination (mini c-ex). It's like we don't know them.

Well, anyway. Time to close this chapter of my life, and start scribbling on a new one coz next week's Emergency Medicine. Ready for some CPR? Let's see what this posting has in store for me ;)

P/S: congrats Ritz for making the Dean's List and Good Luck for your exam Sarah :)
